CDI College has a diploma program that teaches both paralegal training and administrative skills. Students become certified in computer and Internet skills, business administration and legal subjects such as corporate law, family law and real estate. They also learn legal documentation and law office management. The program is 65 weeks long, including a five-week practicum.
Algonquin Careers Academy is accredited by the Law Society of Upper Canada. This is important, because the province of Ontario requires that paralegals be accredited by the Law Society in order to work in the legal field in Ontario. The program is 40 weeks long and offers a diploma upon completion. During the last four weeks of the program, students participate in a practicum field placement arranged by the school.
The Reeves College paralegal program is offered in the Alberta cities of Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge and Lloydminster. The intensive diploma program covers law office administration, computing and business skills, as well as legal areas such as corporate law, real estate, family law, wills and criminal law. The college helps students to find jobs after graduation.
