American University's School of International Service opened its doors in 1958 to prepare students for human-focused foreign service. The program is the largest in the country, serving over 3,000 students from 150 countries. There are eight areas of study to choose from at the School of International Service, including United States Foreign Policy and International Politics.
The Master in Public Administration in International Development is the Harvard Kennedy School's newest degree program. Its curriculum focuses on the study of economics. Students are trained in both analytical and quantitative methods in order to prepare them for policy-making and implementation. The program is highly selective, admitting only around 65 students per academic year.
The Woodrow Wilson School offers a Masters in Public Administration in International Relations. The program strives to provide its students with practical analytical skills and substantive knowledge of the issues critical to the international community. Students learn about the behavior of nations, the way nations interact together, international economics and security affairs.
The Paul H. Nitze School was founded during World War II to prepare students for leadership roles in the global community after the war. It has campuses in Washington, D.C., Italy and China, providing students with opportunities to travel and to test their knowledge during their studies. Its three primary goals are to provide professional training to future leaders of the global community, to perform research pertaining to foreign affairs and to provide educational opportunities for professionals presently employed in the field of international affairs.
