How to Submit a Final Project Proposal for College

A final project in college can be just about anything, depending on your college and its criteria. You may be asked to write a thesis or a dissertation, you might need to do a community service project or you might be asked to develop a project on your own based on a set of criteria from the college. No matter what type of project you have to do, however, you will most likely also need to produce and submit a final project proposal, which will outline your project and explain how it meets the criteria.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the criteria for your project, and see if there are final project proposal guidelines to follow. Some schools require you to submit a specific proposal, and if you have those guidelines you should follow them exactly. Otherwise, begin a typed document for your proposal.

    • 2

Write your name, your year in school, your graduation date and your major at the top of the page. List your advisor, or the person who has been making your graduation and degree decisions after this information.

    • 3

Write the name of your project, or its title.

    • 4

Give a short description -- at least a paragraph -- about your project, and outline what you intend to do for it.

    • 5

Write about a half page or a little longer on how your final project meets your specific major program or school's guidelines and criteria for a final project. You may need to refer to the rubric or to the final project guidelines themselves so you can justify your project in this manner.

    • 6

Submit the proposal to your teacher, your advisor, or the head of your department, before you begin work on your project. If there is a specific due date for proposals, make sure yours is in on time.
