If you are new to college, or simply new to receiving a financial aid award, you may be wondering how you can view your actual award letter. Understand that different institutions have different procedures in how a student gains access to their award letter. There are three different approaches that colleges use in offering award letters to students for viewing. If you completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you will normally receive a notification from the Department of Education stating your eligibility. This isn't your full award letter as you may have also been eligible for state and institutional grants.

1
Check with your college or university financial aid office as to the approach they take in providing students with their award letter.

2
Go online, using your student password or pin to access your student account, which often has a variety of different data and financial aid information. It might even have your award letter for that academic year.

Set up an appointment with a financial aid counselor to view your award in person. This third approach can be particularly useful if your award letter is late or if you have trouble interpreting the information.
