The team mascot for Ohio State University is the Buckeyes. Some of the more popular sports at Ohio State is football and men's basketball. The Buckeyes football team plays their home games at Ohio Stadium, the largest stadium in Ohio. Ohio Stadium has a seating capacity of approximately 102,000 fans. Value City Arena hosts the Buckeyes men's and women's basketball teams; the arena seats over 19,000. Other Ohio State sports include baseball, soccer, tennis and golf. The university also hosts intramural games for non-athlete students; intramural sports include indoor cricket, dodge ball and flag football.
Ohio State's student organizations provide niches for students with special interests. Most of these organization are free to join or only cost a small fee. Student clubs often host fundraisers to raise money for their organizations. Students with academic focuses have access to the Academic Team, Astronomical Society and Independent Study Program Student Organization. The university also provides a wide variety of ethnic groups, such as Chinese American Student Association, Korean Culture Club and Turkish Students' Association. Organizations such as the Council of Graduate Students and Student Government Association are available to students with leadership skills.
Students with a creative flair may join some of Ohio State's fine arts and performing arts events. Ohio State's College of the Arts hosts theater shows, dance performances and music concerts. Most of the participants in these events are students studying theater, dance and music; however, non-music, -theater and -dance majors are free to audition. Venues include the Thruber Theater, which seats 600, and Weigel Auditorium. Ohio State's fine art galleries include Hopkins Hall Gallery and Urban Arts Space. Many of the arts classes and clubs offer temporary exhibits, which feature the works of the class's or club's students.
Ohio State University's Greek System is a collection of fraternities and sororities on the university's campus. The fraternities are for male students, while female students may join sororities. Throughout the year, these organizations operate drives and fundraisers for local charities. Both fraternities and sororities host "rush weeks" to induct new students into their houses; most of the new student candidates are freshmen. Some of Ohio State's fraternities include Kappa Sigma and Sigma Chi, while Delta Delta Delta and Chi Omega are a few of the university's available sororities.
