How to Dissolve Two Part Epoxy

Epoxy resin is a permanent adhesive used for application on wood, metal, fiberglass, glass and plastic surface. Epoxy resin is generally available in two variants: one part epoxy resin and two-part epoxy resin. Two-part epoxy resin has two components, one is hardener and the other is an adhesive resin. Dissolving or mixing the two-part epoxy is a simple process but should be done with precaution and concentration.

Instructions

    • 1

Procure a two-part epoxy in quantity according to the requirement. Wear protective glasses and gloves before starting the mixing procedure.

    • 2

Put a drop cloth on a hard surface, like table or floor. Place a plastic mixing container on the drop cloth.

    • 3

Find the ratio in which the two parts are to be mixed in the manufacturer's directions provided on the epoxy container or in the user's guide provided with the epoxy. If not provided, the parts can be mixed in equal amounts for preparing an effective epoxy resin.

    • 4

Open the epoxy containers or tubes. Pour the hardener and the adhesive resin in the ratio specified by the manufacturer or in equal amounts, if not specified by the manufacturer.

    • 5

Mix the two parts with a mixing stick. The epoxy will turn into a thicker paste with opaque gray color. Ensure proper mixing and the whole paste should be of same color and thickness.

    • 6

Apply the prepared epoxy paste within 20 minutes of the preparation or else the epoxy will start to become hard and start setting in the mixing container.
