How to Determine the Intersection Probability

The probability of an event is a measure of how likely it is to happen. The intersection of two events means that both of them happen. Therefore, the probability of two events is the probability of both events happening. For example, if you roll two dice, one red and one green, you could calculate the probability of a red six and a green two.

Instructions

    • 1

Calculate the probability of the first event happening. In the example, this is 1/6, as there are six sides on a die and each is equally likely.

    • 2

Calculate the probability of the second event happening. In the example, this is also 1/6.

    • 3

Multiply the two probabilities. This is the probability of both events happening, or the intersection of the two events. In the example, this is 1/6*1/6.
