How to Register to Take the NCLEX at Sylvan

To become a Registered Nurse (RN), after graduation from college you must first apply for and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The five-hour exam tests your knowledge of nursing and the rules and requirements for RNs. Once you take the test you have to wait four weeks for your results. Once you learn whether you passed the exam and earned your license, you can begin practicing nursing.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain an NCLEX application for licensure from the board of nursing where you want to obtain your license, fill it out and submit it. Once you submit your application you must complete your registration by paying for your test.

    • 2

Call the NCLEX candidate services at 866-496-2539. Provide your name and credit card information; all major credit cards are accepted for payment. As of May, 2011, the fee to register for the test is $200. You can also pay for your registration online by visiting pearsonvue.com/NCLEX or through the mail by mailing a check to:

      NCLEX Operations

      PO Box 64950

      St. Paul, MN 55164-0950

You will receive a Authorization to Test (ATT) letter in the mail, which states that you submitted your registration paperwork and made your payment. You need this letter when you contact Sylvan to make your appointment.

    • 3

Call your local Sylvan Learning Center to schedule your exam once you receive your ATT letter, which verifies your completed registration paperwork and NCLEX exam payment. You must have your ATT letter prior to making an appointment at Sylvan. Choose a date and time to schedule your test and present your ATT letter when you arrive to test.
