How to Cite Within the Text of Your Paper

The proper format for writing academic papers requires you to use an end-of-text bibliography and in-text citations to show where you got the information used to write the paper. The bibliography, also known as a works cited page, provides your readers with the information they would need to find your references for their own use. The in-text citations, also known as parenthetical citations, provide proper attribution to your sources. Improper parenthetical citation can lead to accusations of plagiarism.
