Research the topic(s) that you intend to present thoroughly and completely. Be sure to have enough information about your topic to also present important subtopics and relevant concepts. Keep a list of your sources.
Write a list of the important themes and concepts you wish to present. Beneath each topic, write out a few facts or subtopics for each topic. Be sure to group similar types of information under the different theme and concept headings.
Write the information in outline form. Mark the overall themes with Roman numerals, beginning with the Roman numeral I for 1 and moving through the Roman numerals to II and III and IV and on. Begin with "I. Introduction" at the top of the page. Group like information together under each uppercase Roman numeral heading. For example, for a presentation on a foreign country, you might write:
I. Introduction
II. History
III. Culture and Customs
IV. Foreign Affairs
V, Politics
VI. Current Economy
VII. Conclusion
Indent each subcategory beneath the Introduction using either a personally-decided upon set number of spaces using the space-bar, or by stroking the tab key on your keyboard once. Each subcategory will be marked by a capital English letter starting with A and working through the alphabet. For example, for the report on a foreign country, you might write:
I. Introduction
A) Brief overview of the research on the country
B) Overall theme of presentation
C) Thesis of my research
Note that any subcategory beneath the A. will be denoted by a lowercase Roman numeral written as "i)" and progressing to ii) and iii) and on. For example:
II. History
A) Foreign wars
i) World War I
ii) World War II
Note that any further division of subcategories will be denoted by lowercase English letters a), b), c) and so forth. For example:
II. History
A) Foreign wars
i) World War I
a) Presence
b) Political and military tactics
c) Foreign aid
ii) World War II
