How to Do an ANOVA Test on a TI-83

Analysis of Variance is a statistical test using in statistical significance tests. You can use ANOVA to determine if a relationship exists between sets of data. Specifically, ANOVA is used to test the hypothesis that the means between two sets of data are equal. The TI-83 calculator is a powerful hand-held calculator capable of running a variety of statistical tests, including ANOVA. While calculating ANOVA by hand can take a substantial amount of time, the TI-83 can give you a result in seconds.

      Press "Stat" and then "Enter."

      Type your lists of data into the list screen. To enter data, type a number and then press the "Enter" key. To move from one list to the next, press the right or left arrow keys.

      Press "Stat," and then arrow over to "Tests"; then arrow down to "ANOVA."

      Type the lists of data, separated by commas, and then type a closing parenthesis. For example, if you entered your data into L1, L2 and L3, then type "L1,L2,L3)".
