Access the FAFSA online. If you have not filed a FAFSA before, you need to request a PIN number from the Department of Education's PIN website.
Fill out the information requested in the FAFSA form. To complete the FAFSA, you need to have your Form W-2 or latest tax information with you, as well as the tax information of your parents if you are under 18. You need to include information such as your (and your parents', if applicable) work income, tax withholdings and other sources of income.
Enter your school's federal aid code when requested by the FAFSA. If you do not know the code, contact your school's financial aid department for assistance. You may enter more than one code, if desired.
Sign your application with your PIN code.
