Women over 40 who reside in one of the five burroughs of New York City may seek assistance in helping to offset the cost of returning to school through grant funds that are offered by the New York Women's Foundation. This foundation works to promote economic security to women in the New York City area by providing access to programs that help women to improve their ability to support themselves and their families. Grant funds are awarded primarily to nonprofit organizations that assist low-income women and women who have been victims of domestic violence to obtain housing, to complete their educational goals and to obtain career training.
