Determine the mandatory fees associated with the community college or university's enrollment. These fees can include costs such as a health fee, representation fee, campus fee and education fee. Consider any fee that is a mandatory cost of enrollment part of the school's tuition.
Determine the base tuition fee. Depending on the community college or university, the base tuition fee may include a fixed number of units or a range of units. For example, a school may set a base tuition fee of $10,000 for 12 to 18 units and a unit base of $1,200 per unit. This means that if you want to take 12 to 18 units, you would use the $10,000 tuition base figure. However, if you want to take more than 18 units or fewer than 12 units you would use the unit basis of $1,200 and multiply this figure by the number of units you plan to take.
Determine any additional fees for out-of-state or international students. Most public universities have an additional per unit fee for out-of-state or international students. You need to multiply this fee by the number of units you plan to take if applicable. This fee will not apply if you are an in state student attending a public school or if you attend a private institution.
Add the fees together to determine the total tuition for your community college or university.
