Read your financial aid "Award Letter" once it arrives in the mail. The letter includes details about your financial aid package, such as any scholarships, loans and work study you are being offered for a specific academic year. Most schools allow you to accept your financial aid package over the Internet. However, you may be required to sign the financial aid documents that are included in the package and return them to the financial aid office.
Login to your school student account to view the award information. If there are any errors in your package, call your school's financial aid office immediately. You do not want to miss any deadlines. Additionally, if you must apply for additional grants or loans, that may take several weeks for approval.
Accept your award according to the instructions listed on your school's website. For example, after logging into your student account at the University or Oregon, login to "DuckWeb" and select "Student Menu," "Financial Aid Menu," "Award Package" and "Accept Award Offer." Although they will probably be similar, the instructions may differ somewhat, depending on which college you are attending.
Sign and mail your financial aid documents, if required. Some schools may not have an online acceptance process. You will need to sign "promissory notes," which are agreements to repay any loans contained in your package. Review each document in the package to determine what you have to sign. Return the package according to the instructions listed. For example, you might be able to mail them back or take them to the office yourself. You should take them to the financial aid office to ensure that they do not get lost in the mail.
