FIDM offers three specialized programs in merchandising. Students can select from majors in merchandise marketing, merchandise product development and beauty industry merchandising and marketing at varying degree levels. The Merchandise Product Development Program is an associate degree program, and it teaches students how to use technology, conduct market and trend research and plan for financial success.

Perhaps one of the most internationally renowned fashion colleges, New York's Fashion Institute of Technology is a part of the state's public university system, SUNY.
