Firefighter Training Grants & Financial Aid

Prospective firefighters have all of the common financial aid opportunities offered from the school or academy. This could include federal or state grant and loan programs or scholarships from local fire-related organizations.
  1. IAFC Foundation Scholarship

    • The International Association of Fire Chiefs Foundation received a $50,00 grant from Motorola to support a Future Leaders Scholarship Fund scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to future fire and emergency service personnel.

    9/11 Fund

    • The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was founded in memory of the 343 firefighters who were lost during the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001. This foundation assists firefighters and families with scholarships.

    National Junior Firefighter Program

    • The National Junior Firefighter Scholarship and Grand Program assists outstanding junior firefighters with scholarships. Two awards are given for two years, one for a student pursuing an associate degree and the other a bachelor's degree.

    College Scholarships

    • There are numerous colleges and universities that offer scholarships specific to those entering the field of fire and emergency services. Schools include Colorado State University, Oklahoma State University, Portland Community College, Seneca College, the University of Maryland and the University of Memphis.

    Firefighters Children's Scholarships

    • Some organizations and schools offer scholarships to children of firefighters. San Francisco State, The Bound Tree Legacy, the International Association of Firefighters and National Law Enforcement and Firefighter Children's Foundation award scholarships to deserving students.
