How to Apply for a Palmetto Scholarship

Established in 1988, the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education began to administer the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Program. The program was designed to reward high-achieving students, while encouraging them to attend school in the state. The funding is merit-based and available for a maximum of eight full-time terms of credits being applied toward a bachelor's degree. The recipients are awarded up to $6,700 as freshmen, increasing to $7,500 the sophomore year and beyond if the student continues to meet the eligibility criteria. In 2007, an additional award or Enhanced Scholarship became available for students in an approved science or math program allowing the student to receive up to $10,000 per year to be disbursed in the fall and spring terms.
