Instructions

    • 1

Decide your preparation plan of action. If you are a self-directed learner, you may want to order the study guide directly from the SSAT website (ssat.org) and use it to prepare for the test yourself. If you need lots of guidance and direction, you may want to order the study guide and schedule a few tutoring sessions.

    • 2

Know what your school is looking for. If your school places a higher priority on one of the three areas tested by the SSAT, such as verbal skills, then you may want to concentrate your test preparation time on this area. You can even call the school to which you are applying for pointers as to what areas to concentrate your efforts.

    • 3

Make a plan. Make a list of things you want to accomplish during your test preparation time. Prioritize this list and get started.

    • 4

Ask for help. Nobody knows the answer to every question. If you get stuck on a particular phase of your SSAT preparation, ask someone for help.

    • 5

Relax. Nobody tests well without a good night's sleep. Make sure you spread your studying over several weeks or months, that way you can review more often and get to really know the information you are studying.
