How to View Your SAT Scores

Waiting to view your SAT scores often causes anxiety and stress. In three to five weeks after the test, viewing your scores is easy -- whether online, by mail or over the phone.

Instructions

  1. Viewing Scores Online

    • 1

Register online at http://sat.collegeboard.com. Creating this free account allows you to register to take the SAT, access and send your scores, apply for colleges online, build a college list, search for financial aid, and receive email reminders.

    • 2

A timetable on the college board SAT website specifies which estimated dates scores should be viewable for each test date. Usually you can view your scores within about three weeks after your test date.

    • 3

View your scores online. Your collage board SAT account will notify you by email when your scores are in. Once you have been notified, enter the college board SAT website and click on the "Available Online" link next to your test date in the "Scores" section. Log into your account and view your scores under the "My Scores" section.

    • 4

Take a closer look. Shortly after your initial scores are available, your full SAT score report will also show up on your account under the "My Scores" section. You can study your scores in more depth with a detailed score breakdown and an analysis of how you did on different types of questions on each test section, what your scores mean and how your scores compare to other test takers.

    Receiving Your Scores By Mail

    • 5

Register for the SAT by mail. Acquire an SAT Paper Registration Guide from your school's counseling office, fill out the application and mail it with the included return envelope.

    • 6

Receiving your SAT scores by mail takes a little longer than if you viewed them online. Expect about a five-week wait.

    • 7

When your scores are in, you will receive by mail your official score report and results. Your school and any universities, colleges or scholarship programs you had your scores sent to will receive your scores around this time as well.

    Getting Your Scores By Phone

    • 8

Register for the SAT online or by mail.

    • 9

It will take about three weeks for your scores to become available by phone.

    • 10

Call SAT Program Customer Service about three weeks after your test date and get your scores by phone. For the call you will need your test registration number, birth date, credit card number and credit card expiration date.

    Requesting Score Verification

    • 11

Consider the SAT Program's Question-and-Answer Service. This service is only available for certain test dates and locations. You can order the service during your SAT registration or through downloading, filling out and submitting the Question-and-Answer Order Form up to five months after your test date. Six to eight weeks after you order the service, you will receive by mail a booklet with your actual test questions and answers, correct answers, additional scoring instructions and information about question types and difficulty levels.

    • 12

Consider the SAT Program's Student Answer Service. This service is available for all other test dates and locations. You can order the service during your SAT registration or through downloading, filling out and submitting the Student Answer Order Form up to five months after your test date. Six to eight weeks after you order the service, you will receive by mail a booklet with test questions and answers to correctly, incorrectly and omitted questions. Unlike the Question-and-Answer Service, this booklet does not include your specific test questions and answers. The booklet also offers information about question types and difficulty levels.

    • 13

Consider the Score Verification service. This service offers a personal in-depth score analysis. Both the multiple choice and essay portions of your test will be manually reviewed. If any irregularity that occurred during the scanning or scoring process for your test is discovered, your score may be changed and will be updated automatically. You can request this service up to five months after your test date by calling SAT Program Customer Service. A confirmation letter will be mailed to you about five weeks after you order the service.
