* Standard English Conventions: Grammar, usage, punctuation, and sentence structure.
Math:
* Math: The math section includes both calculator and no-calculator portions. Topics covered include:
* Heart of Algebra: Solving equations and inequalities, systems of equations, linear functions and graphs.
* Problem Solving and Data Analysis: Ratios, proportions, percentages, statistics, probability, data interpretation from graphs and tables.
* Passport to Advanced Math: Quadratic equations, functions, polynomials, and more advanced algebraic concepts.
* Additional Topics in Math: Geometry (circles, triangles, etc.), trigonometry (basic concepts), and complex numbers (less emphasis).
It's important to note that the PSAT emphasizes critical reading, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills across all sections. Memorization of facts is less important than the ability to apply knowledge and reason effectively.
