Examine what assessment tests were taken. Assessment score printouts usually contain a column entitled "Subjects" or "Tests," which denote what subject each score corresponds to. This information is usually one of the first things listed on the printouts.
Discover what the objectives of the assessment were. Score printouts should contain a box of objectives, usually numbered with bullets. Objectives explain the purpose of the test and what it was designed to measure.
Review how well the student did in meeting each objective. This is usually reported in one of two forms. Some printouts state how many questions were answered correctly out of the total questions; others provide this information in the form of percentages.
Check to see whether the student got a passing score. Listed somewhere on the printout will be the minimum number of questions answered correctly or the minimum percentage that the student must score to pass the assessment. Ensure the student met the requirement.
Compare how well the student did compared to other students. The printout usually provides this information in percentages or sometimes a bell curve. This information is usually stated in percentiles to the national average. For instance, a student who scores within the 90 percentile scored better than 90 percent of the other students in the nation who took the assessment--or you could say she scored within the top 10 percent of the nation.
