How to Prepare for AIMS

Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) is the state's program for testing the academic proficiency of students in grades 3 through 8 and grade 10. Tests are administered in writing, reading, mathematics and science each fall and spring; most public school students must pass the tests in writing, reading and math in order to graduate from high school, although there are alternative methods of meeting the requirement. Test preparation resources include study materials from the Arizona Department of Education as well as both state and private tutoring services.

Apply for free remedial tutoring if you are a freshman or sophomore who did not pass the 8th-grade AIMS or a junior or senior who has not passed one or more portions of the high-school AIMS, which is initially taken in 10th grade. High school students can retake AIMS tests each fall and spring until they receive passing scores. To obtain free remedial tutoring, contact any of the four state-approved companies or your school principal's office if your school participates in the voluntary program.
