Make a list of questions. Brainstorm what questions you think the interview committee will ask students and write them down. Why are you interested in a career in physical therapy? What experience do you have? Why are you the right student for our program? These are just some of the questions that may be asked. Practice answering all the questions on your list as a way to prepare for your physical therapy school interview.
Participate in mock interviews. Contact the career services center or a counselor at your school to set up a time to have a mock interview. This allows you to interview with a career counselor who gives you feedback on what you did well in the interview and what you need to work on. If mock interviews through your school aren’t available, ask family members or friends to interview you. Treat it like the real thing by dressing up and coming prepared. Doing this will help you take it seriously and prepare better.
Learn about the school. Research the physical therapy school on the internet or talk to students who attend it. Use this research to formulate questions you may have about the school, which you can ask during the interview. Questions provide you with the opportunity to show that you know about the school and physical therapy program and are highly interested in being a student.
Prepare for the day of the interview. Double check the time and location for the interview. Print out a campus map and make sure that you know where to park as well as how to get to the building and room where interviews are being conducted. Plan in advance what suit or dress clothes you are going to wear for the interview. Remember that when choosing your outfit you need to convey a professional appearance to the interview team.
