Register for the CSET English exam. You are responsible for registering for the correct test. CSET offers three different options for registration, including by phone, by mail and using the Internet.
Review the CSET English study guides. Study guides are offered for free from CSET, the Department of Education, University of California-Irvine and Teachers Test Prep. The study guides give you information pertaining to the test including what to bring, how long the test is and sample questions and answers pertaining to the English exam.
Take a practice test. Obtain practice tests from Teachers Test Prep and the Department of Education,University of California-Irvine. The English practice tests are broken down into four sub-categories that offer multiple-choice questions and analysis-based questions. Check the answer key to compare your answers or have your practice test graded online upon completion.
Know what you need to bring on the test day. The CSET advises you to bring your admission ticket, photo identification and at least four sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers. Keep your test items together and quickly locatable to ease stress on test day.
Set aside an entire day for your test. The CSET English is offered at two different times during the test day. The morning session is from 7:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. PST. The afternoon test is administered from 1:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. PST. Your testing time and location are printed on your admission ticket.
