What will my UGC pay and arreas in revised scales?

UGC Pay and Arrears in Revised Scales

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has revised the pay scales of its employees with effect from 1st January 2016. The revised pay scales are as follows:

Assistant Professor

- Pre-Revised Basic Pay: Rs. 15,600 - 39,100

- Revised Basic Pay: Rs. 35,000 - 1,12,400

Associate Professor

- Pre-Revised Basic Pay: Rs. 37,400 - 67,000

- Revised Basic Pay: Rs. 67,000 - 2,01,100

Professor

- Pre-Revised Basic Pay: Rs. 57,200 - 78,800

- Revised Basic Pay: Rs. 1,03,200 - 3,07,200

In addition to the revised pay scales, UGC employees are also entitled to arrears for the period from 1st January 2016 to 30th June 2021. The arrears will be calculated as per the difference between the revised and pre-revised pay scales, and will be paid in lump sum.

The UGC has also revised the house rent allowance (HRA) for its employees. The revised HRA rates are as follows:

Assistant Professor

- 24% of Basic Pay

Associate Professor

- 30% of Basic Pay

Professor

- 36% of Basic Pay

The revised pay scales and arrears will be effective from 1st July 2021.
