What does works cited mean?

Works cited is a list of the sources that you have used in your research paper. It is placed at the end of your paper, typically on a separate page, and serves as a way for readers to verify the information that you have presented in your paper. Each entry in the works cited should include the following information:

* Author's name

* Title of the source

* Year it was published

The exact format for citing sources varies depending on the style guide that you are using. The most common style guides are MLA (Modern Language Association) and APA (American Psychological Association).

Here are some examples of works cited entries in MLA format:

* Book:

Last Name, First Name. _Title of Book_. Publisher, Year of Publication.

* Article in a journal:

Last Name, First Name. "Title of Article." _Journal Title_ Volume/Issue (Year): Page Numbers.

* Article in a newspaper:

Last Name, First Name. "Title of Article." _Newspaper Title_ Date of Publication: Page Number.

* Website:

Last Name, First Name. "Title of Article." _Website Title_. (Date you accessed URL). URL.

By carefully documenting your sources, you give credit to the people whose work you have used, and make it easier for readers to research and expand on your ideas.
