Are there spelling bees in high school?

While there aren't nationally televised high school spelling bees with the same prominence as the Scripps National Spelling Bee (which is primarily for younger students), high schools *do* sometimes hold spelling bees as part of school events, clubs, or academic competitions. These are usually at the individual school level, or sometimes within a smaller, regional group of schools. They're not as common or widely publicized as elementary and middle school bees.
