What is a Kappa Alpha Order Southern Belle?

Kappa Alpha Order's Southern Belle is an honorary program to recognize an outstanding woman that has made significant contributions to the fraternity's culture, heritage, or ideals. The title of "Southern Belle" was first bestowed upon these women by the Kappa Alpha Order national fraternity headquartered at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. There is also a Southern Belle program for the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, an African-American fraternity.
