Do the petals of a crocus and leaves clover plant move for same reason?

The petals of a crocus and the leaves of a clover plant do not move for the same reason. The petals of a crocus flower move in response to changes in light intensity and temperature. When the light is bright and the temperature is warm, the petals open to expose the pollen to pollinators. When it gets dark or the temperature drops, the petals close to conserve heat and protect the pollen.

On the other hand, the leaves of a clover plant move due to a phenomenon known as nyctinasty. Nyctinasty is the movement of plant parts based on the circadian rhythm, or the internal 24-hour cycle of an organism. In the case of the clover plant, the leaves fold upwards at night to minimize water loss through transpiration and protect themselves from the cold temperatures. During the day, the leaves open up to capture sunlight for photosynthesis.
