Line up 10 empty soda bottles 2 feet apart into rows that are a least 30 feet from one another. Divide the preschoolers up into teams. If the teams are unequal, you can ask one of the children to help you be referee. Have the teams stand in line in front of their bottles. Flip a coin to decide which team goes first, and hand that team the ball. Have the teams try to knock over the other team's bottles but protect their own at the same time. The first team to knock over all of the other team's bottles wins.
Lay two jump ropes on the ground that are at least 20 feet across from each other. Pick one student to be the octopus. Have the octopus stand in the between the two jump ropes at an equal distance from each of them. Line up the other students behind one of the jump ropes, facing the octopus. Explain to the children that they have to try to run across the playing field to the other jump rope and the octopus is going to try to tag them. Let them know that if the octopus tags them, then they have to stand in one place, acting as seaweed, and they can tag other children that run past them; those children will become seaweed as well. Start the game and keep having the children run back and forth until everyone has been tagged. The last child to be tagged will get to be the octopus in the next game.
Line up the preschoolers and have them place their hands on the shoulder of the person in front of them. Place a bandana in the back pocket of the last child that is in the line. If the last child in line does not have a back pocket, you can attach the bandana tail to his back with a piece of tape. Have the front of the line chase the person at the back of the line to try to get the bandana. If a child breaks the line by letting go of the person's shoulders in front of him, then he is out and the line will be shortened, making it easier for the front of the line to grab the bandana. If the child at the back of the line lets go of the person in front of him, have him sit out and attach the bandana tail to the new child that is last in line.
