How to Blow Dandelion Seeds

Most people spray dandelions in their yards because they are considered weeds. A few people leave the small yellow flowers alone. If you have young children, there is nothing better than walking through the yard with them and finding a dandelion that has gone to seed. Of course, not only the very young children like to blow dandelions; even the older ones find joy as they remember back to their childhood.

Instructions

    • 1

Wait until the flowers die. The yellow heads will turn into a round ball full of seeds.

    • 2

Carefully pick the stem with the seed ball close to the ground. Try not to dislodge seeds into the air before you blow them away. Pick a day with little to no wind.

    • 3

Make a wish, but don’t tell what your wish is or it won’t come true.

    • 4

Take a deep breath. Pucker your lips and begin to blow into the seed ball as you think fondly about your wish.

    • 5

Count the seeds that remain on the seed head. If no seeds remain your wish will come true, according to folklore. The number of seeds left after one blow can tell you many things, according to folklore, such as the number of children you will have, what time it is time, and if your sweetheart loves you.
