Photocopy an animal face from a line art coloring book onto 8 1/2-by-11 sheets of card stock. Be sure the book is free from copyright limitations. Line art images contain basic details that can be filled in with colored pencils, markers, paint and embellishments. You can check out coloring books from the library, purchase your own or use free animal face line art from online educational websites.
Cut out animal masks. Use scissors to cut around the line art animal faces. Use a scrapbooking blade or craft knife to cut out animal face features such as the eyes, nostrils and mouth.
Color and embellish the animal masks. Use crayons, markers or acrylic paint to add details to your masks. Glue on embellishments such as cotton balls and yarn with craft glue. You can also use a stapler to attach embellishments.
Punch two holes in the mask, one on each side, where you plan to attach the cord, using your 1/16-inch hole punch. Measure 10 inches of stretch cord and tie it to one side of the mask. Tie the other side of the mask to fit each child's head as they try on the masks.
