Decide what the children will be drawing. Trees, turkeys, cats and dogs make good choices.
Pour the paint the children will be using in the shallow plastic plates. Then, with the paper in front of them, they can dip their hands in the paint. Next, they place their hands on the paper to form the shape they need for the object they are painting. For example, to do the tree, they would dip one hand in brown paint and press their hand on the paper to form the truck and branches. To make turkey feathers, they would use both hands and yellow and orange paint.
Give the children safety scissors so they can cut out the shape from construction paper that they need for the rest of their image. For example, they could cut out an elongated pear shape to form the body and head for their turkey, or a roughly circular green shape to make the top of the tree. They can then glue these shapes in place.
Give the children crayons so they can add other features to their work, such as eyes for the turkey or apples for the tree.
