Give each child in the class a paper bag, markers, stickers, glitter, glue and other embellishments and ask them to decorate it according to their taste. They can also use crayons to color on the bag. Help them write their name on the bag and include a short sentence about why they are special. Collect all the grab bags and fill each bag with items that you think each child would like, such as a truck, princess doll or other toys. Give the bags back to the children the next day to help them feel special.
Give the kids a paper plate and markers or crayons. Help them draw a self portrait of their face, freckles and all. Then give them yarn that matches the color of their hair. Show them how to glue the yarn on the outer edges of the plate to create hair. Encourage the kids to write about why they are special on the back of the plate.
Give the preschool students markers, construction paper, letter stencils and scissors. Help them trace the letters in their name with stencils on construction paper. Show them how to cut out each letter and glue their name on a large piece of construction paper. They can then use the markers to decorate the rest the page. Help them write how special they are below the name and add the meaning of their name.
Help preschool students capture special memories about themselves in a custom scrapbook. Ask them to bring in baby pictures along with other photos from ages one and older. Dedicate a page specifically to writing about their life and why they are unique. Give them stickers that fit their personality like ballerina shoes, basketballs or trucks. Help them glue paper decorations and other embellishments to complete the project.
