Preschool Craft Using Forget Me Not Flowers

Encourage preschool students to appreciate flowers by hosting flower crafts about specific types of flowers such as the Forget Me Not species. Forget Me Not flowers (Myosotis sylvatica) display shades of deep purple and blue with yellow and red centers. These tiny star-shaped beauties grow naturally in woodlands, open fields and other areas.
  1. Flower Pot Decorating

    • Decorate a pot intended for Forget Me Not flowers with the shapes and colors seen on these tiny blooms. Show your preschool kids pictures of the flowers and help them paint the shape and colors on the pot. The flowers showcase mixes of blue and purple along with shades of yellow in the center. They can also paint their name and other designs. Fill the pot with potting mix and Forget Me Not flower seeds.

    Flower Species Paintings

    • Encourage your preschool students to paint Forget Me Not flowers and other wildflower species with thumb prints or a sponge on card stock or poster board paper. Buy sponges shaped like flowers and help them dip the sponges in different colored paint and press them on the page to create the flowers. The kids can use their thumbs to create the petals and center of the flower also, depending on what's easiest for them. Encourage them to label each type of flower. Some preschool students don't know how to write, so you may need to help some of them paint letters.

    Pressed Flower Card

    • Buy or make pressed flowers to use for crafting with your preschoolers. You can find pressed flowers at craft stores, but you can also press Forget Me Not flowers into shape by placing fresh flowers between wax paper and heavy books. Allow the flowers to stay under the books for a few days. Help the kids decorate a get well or thank you card to give to a family member. They can use basic card stock and markers to draw pictures and write messages on the cards. Show them how to glue the tiny flowers on the outside of the card in random places, around the border or on the inside.

    Picture Collage

    • Help your preschool students make a picture collage showcasing Forget Me Not flowers and other types of wildflowers. Give them pictures of various wildflowers, stickers, markers, pressed Forget Me Not blooms and card stock paper. Allow them to decorate the collage by gluing on the pictures and drawing some of their own pictures. They can also add a flower sticker border or glue the pressed flowers anywhere on the page.
