Create a keepsake by tracing one of each child's shoes and both of their hands onto a brown paper bag. Cut them out and label each with the child's name. Glue the hand prints, side by side, onto a sheet of construction paper. These are the antlers. Lay the shoe vertically on the paper to cover just the bottom part of the hand prints. Have the children glue the reindeer head -- shoe print -- into place. Give each child two wiggle eyes and a red pompom and instruct them to glue the reindeer's eyes and nose onto his face. Draw a mouth to complete the project.
Let preschoolers decorate their own reindeer cupcakes. Beforehand, ice cupcakes smooth with white icing. Break pretzels in half and place in bowls. Halve maraschino cherries to use as the nose. Fill bowls with small candies for the eyes. Place all bowls in reach of the children. Instruct them to insert to pretzel halves into the top of their cupcake for antlers. Then, they can add candy eyes and a cherry nose before eating their creation.
Make a reindeer puppet using brown lunch bags. Trace children's hands on red construction paper and cut out the outlines. Lay the bag with the bottom flap facing up. This is the front. Staple the hands onto the top back portion of the bag as antlers. Have children glue on cut-out circle eyes and red circles noses. Draw the reindeer's smiling mouth and label each puppet with the child's name on back.
Help children make a reindeer out of a candy cane. Leave the candy in its wrapper. Twist a pipe cleaner around the curved part of the candy cane, making a v-shape on top. Bend each branch of the "v" to shape the antlers. Give the child two wiggle eyes to glue onto the curved part of the candy. He can then glue a red pompom under the eyes as the reindeer's nose. String a bell onto a small red ribbon and tie around the reindeer's neck to finish the project. The reindeer can be hung as a Christmas ornament.
