Do grammar schools still exist in Great Britain today?
Grammar schools still exist in Great Britain, but they are a small minority of schools. Since 1998 the Government has allowed existing grammar schools to keep their selective status but has banned the setting up of new ones. As of 2021, there were 163 grammar schools in England, with a total of around 160,000 pupils. This represented about 3% of all state-funded schools in England and about 7% of all state-funded secondary schools.
