How to Organize My Homework for 8th Grade

If you master the organization of your homework in eighth grade, you will find it easier to remain organized throughout high school. An organized student is less likely to lose valuable homework papers. As an eighth-grader who can keep homework organized, you will have neater papers to pass in to teachers. You'll be able to save time that is often wasted hunting for missing projects. You may even save yourself the aggravation of redoing work or getting into trouble if you have everything neatly organized.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down every assignment you are given in a planner as the teacher announces it. Mark the date the homework or project is due on a calendar in your planner.

    • 2

Choose one person at home to hold you accountable for your homework. Have that person initial or at least view the homework assignments daily or weekly. Tell a friend. It may help you remember what you have to do if you have said the words out loud. Write down the assignment schedule on a calendar at home for a daily reminder.

    • 3

Create a comfortable and organized place to study every day. If your desk or room is disorganized, your homework is likely to become disorganized. Have a calculator, ruler, pencils, paper and other materials close at hand for ease of access to them. If you have enough room, set up a tray or bin on your desk to place finished homework in as you move on to the next subject. Set up the space before you start the homework of the day.

    • 4

Choose a safe place to store long-term projects such as an author study, story board, collage or diorama. Make sure that an adult in your home knows that you have a project in progress so he can help protect it from little brothers and sisters or other family members. Keep the project neatly cared for, pack up supplies after each crafting session and clean up any spills or mess.

    • 5

Store finished homework in a folder or binder. Put the binder into your school bag or backpack before moving on to the next subject or leaving your work area. Your homework will be organized, packed and ready for the next day of school.

    • 6

Clean your locker at school frequently to make sure you have no homework stored there by mistake. A clean and organized locker will save you time and protect your homework from damage and loss.
