How to Convert GPM to L/min

Gallons per minute, or gpm, and liters per minute, or l/min, measure flow rate. Flow rates can be used to quantify how fast water flows through rapids on a river or lava flows out of a volcano. When the time period is the same, such as in gallons per minute and liters per minute, you can convert if you know the conversion factor between the two units of volume.

Instructions

    • 1

Divide the number of gallons per minute by 0.26417205 to convert to liters per minute. For example, if you have 50 gpm, divide 50 by 0.26417205 to get 189.27 l/min.

Multiply the number of gallons per minute by 3.78541178 to convert to liters per minute. In this example, check your answer by multiplying 50 by 3.78541178 to get 189.27 L/min.
