How to Calculate a League Bowling Average

Bowling leagues offer an enjoyable recreational activity that people of all ages and abilities can get involved in. Depending on your skill level and competitiveness, you may be concerned about the skill level of a bowling league you are considering joining. To gauge the skill level, you can calculate the average score of the league's members, so you'll have an idea of what you are getting yourself into. For example, if you have an 80 average and the league has a 180 average, knowing this up front will save you the embarrassment of throwing gutter balls when everyone else is throwing strikes.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the total number of games bowled by members of the league. For example, if the league has five members and each has bowled five games, you would have 25 total games bowled.

    • 2

Add the scores of each game to find the total points scored by the league.

    • 3

Divide the total points scored by the number of games bowled to find the league bowling average. In this example, if the total points scored is 2,800, divide 2,800 by 25 to find the league average equals 112 per game.
