Make telling time part of the day. In addition to going over the date and the day of the week every morning, do the time together as well. Ask students to look at the clock and say precisely what time it is. Have the yesterday's time reading on the board, and ask students if it is later or earlier than when they read the time the day before. Assemble students at the day's end and do the same activity.
Have students make their own clocks as a craft activity. Have them draw the numbers with markers on a paper plate. Ask them to cut out hands from construction paper. Help them attach the hands with a brass fastener. Spend some time each day asking students to set their clocks to a certain time. Ask for volunteers to tell the class their favorite time of day. Have each student set the hands to that time.
Designate a special time for each day. At the beginning of the school day, pick a time, such as 1:56, and write it on the board. Tell the class that the first student to call out the time as soon as the clock strikes the special time wins a prize. Change the time each day. The activity should make students aware of the clock as the day proceeds.
Use worksheets. Make a sheet with a number of blank clocks (without hands). Under each blank clock, have a time written in digital format. Have students draw the hands on each clock corresponding to the time stated underneath.
