What did Freud believe about preschool boys?

According to Freud, preschool boys experience strong feelings of desire toward their mothers and feelings of hostility towards their fathers. He believed that boys are attracted to their mothers and view their fathers as rivals for their mother's attention. This leads to feelings of jealousy and resentment towards the father. Freud termed this the Oedipus Complex.
