Practice letter sounds out loud. Some websites, such as Owl & Mouse, have interactive letters that children can click. The sound of that letter will play. Practice saying these out loud as you work on each letter with your child.
Play games. Many educational websites offer interactive phonics games for children. PBS Kids, for example, has several online flash-based games that children can play for free. These games have colorful graphics for children to enjoy, but also help kids to sound out letters and letter combinations.
Sign up for a program. Online classes help children by providing structured lessons to work on letter pronunciation, sounds and reading. Most online classes do charge a fee, but cater to each individual student and provide an abundant amount of information.
Watch a video. Cartoon-based videos help children to learn phonics online. Some educational websites, such as Fruit Phonics, offer these videos for free. According to the Fruit Phonics website, their program is "designed to excite, engage and amuse children while providing teachers and parents with accessible, effective tools to support children's literacy development."
