The Home Depot offers several different classes for children ages 5 through 12. Kids have the opportunity to make a product that is both useful and imaginative. Workshops include window birdhouses, planter, firetrucks, mail organizers and Home Depot race cars. Sometimes kids get to paint their fully-assembled product before leaving the store.
The class schedules vary. Normally, these workshops are offered on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. They are not, however, scheduled every Saturday. They are scheduled at least one Saturday each month, but stores vary on dates. Check with your local Home Depot or pick up a copy of the schedule for your personal use.
There are special perks to every kids class Home Depot offers. Not only do children get the opportunity to work with experts, they also get a bag of goodies. Kids get an orange kid-sized apron, similar to the Home Depot aprons, and an achievement pin, so each child can remember their special day.
The class rules and expectations may differ slightly with each class. Parents are required to stay and help their child with the project. Safety gear is provided, which all participants must wear, including safety goggles, gloves and painter smocks, depending on the project. If your child has special needs, tell the instructor before class begins.
