Show your child's teacher you appreciate all he does by giving him a small, heartfelt gift. Hand write a note to the teacher, thanking him for working with your child and provide specific, positive memories that you and your child have from the school year. Have your child decorate a small trinket, such as a hand-painted flowerpot or a personalized Christmas tree ornament to attach to your note. You could also let an older child add their own special memories to your letter.
Give a busy teacher the gift of your time. Offer to spend time volunteering in the classroom, to complete projects for her at home or to help organize the classroom once school is out. Work with other parents to organize a teacher car wash on the last day of school or to host a special lunch for the teachers. Create a special certificate that explains your services and present it as a gift to the teacher.
Work with the teacher's students and other classroom parents to give the teacher a gift from his whole class. Create a class memory book by having each child design her own page, focusing on her favorite things about the teacher and her best memories of the year. Give the teacher a T-shirt, plate or canvas bag with each child's handprint on it. Take a picture of the whole class and let the children sign their names on the mat board before placing it in a frame. Ask each family to send in a favorite recipe with a note about why the teacher will enjoy it and build a class recipe book.
Select a gift that you know the teacher will use. Purchase a gift card to the local bookstore for a teacher who likes to read or to the garden supply center for the teacher who enjoys spending time in her yard. You could also donate money to a charity that she supports. Give the teacher supplies that are useful in the classroom, such as special art materials, a book for the classroom library or basics such as pencils and notebook paper.
