To participate, you simply register online and create an account that builds points as you keep entering the codes. It only takes a few minutes and can do it at any time on a computer or mobile device. Once you have entered your codes you can choose how to redeem your points. Prizes include vacations and travel deals, merchandise and magazine subscriptions, along with options to divert your points to schools and other nonprofit causes. You can also split up your points for different purposes.
When you go online to your Coke Rewards account, you can enter your latest code and then select the school you wish you receive your points. All eligible schools, with grades from kindergarten through 12th grade, are listed on the website. Use Reward points to buy classroom supplies, athletic equipment, learning aids and other school-related products. The program also allows you to contribute points to Coca-Cola scholarships.
If your school is not listed as one of the schools eligible for Coke Rewards points, contact your principal or a faculty member. Coca-Cola needs to verify school information and designate a school coordinator to manage the account and be the one person allowed to redeem points. The school coordinator, whom the company will also ask to encourage local support for the program, can be a school staff member or a volunteer parent.
When the Coke Rewards program first launched in February 2006, some consumers complained that the point totals needed to earn the top prizes were too far out of reach. Another major complaint was that points could expire after 90 days of no account activity. This affected individuals as well as schools that may have had sporadic involvement by donors and school coordinators. Within a few months, however, several rules and reward points were adjusted in response to consumer complaints.
