Sit down with your child and plan out a timeline of events that will be performed in order to complete the assignment. Events that should take place are brainstorming, research, writing an outline, writing a rough draft, proofreading and writing the final draft.
Brainstorm about what you and your child wish to write about as it pertains to ducks. You can concentrate on one aspect of ducks such as their habitat, or you can touch lightly on several aspects such as their habitat, diet, mating and migration.
Perform research on ducks with your child. You can use the Internet, library and observation to make the most of your child's report. Write down any information you both think would be useful in writing the report. Make sure you write down a detailed bibliography and/or works cited information, including the names of websites and their URLs, titles and authors of books as well as the page numbers.
Help your child form an outline of the information to cover. Allow your child to write the rough draft of the report, and then go through the duck report with your child and review punctuation, grammar and spelling as needed.
Assist your child in typing up or writing the final draft of their report on ducks. The report should be according to the teacher's specified instructions and include any visual material necessary.
