Print mazes from the Internet and have your child regularly practice following the path from beginning to the end. Repetition and practice help strengthen tracking and following visual clues. Giving your child a choice of mazes helps them build success on puzzles they are comfortable with.
Use printed pages or books of hidden pictures to make it fun to track and find objects. Depending on the child's age and interest, start with easy pictures and work up in skill level based on the child's progress. Assist the child by giving them a general area to look for a particular object.
Use memory card games to help your child develop visual skills and recognize objects. Repetition helps strengthen the child's visual memory as well as confidence.
Use shape-recognition worksheets or Web site to practice observing the original shape and find a match within shapes given. Introduce shape recognition after the child has been practicing the other methods.
