Write a list of what the athletic team you support is in need of. The list may range from practice and game equipment to funds for upcoming games and field trips. The more specific you are in the funds required and the financial records you have, the more likely you are to gain permission from the college or university's administration.
Have all of the members of the sports team as well as family members of those involved sign a petition to start an athletic booster club.
Create a plan for your athletic booster club's meetings and when and where they will be held each week or month. Delegate jobs for taking care of the financial records, media planning and fundraising to various members of the potential club.
Schedule a meeting with your college's administration or manager of groups and fundraising at the school. Present the material you have regarding the financial planning and needs of the booster club in a professional manner. Explain the reasons you believe it is necessary to form a booster club and the benefits that it will have for the team you are supporting.
Use social media, websites and blogs to promote and support upcoming fundraising events and games for the team. Inform others of the new athletic booster club by frequently updating and posting to students of the college and members of the team.
Call local media after the launch of your booster club and invite the school's administrators to an upcoming event or game to help spread the word of your team and the sport.
Sell additional T-shirts and merchandise at games to help raise money for your booster club. Offer raffle tickets with prizes at events with your athletic team and feature contests in which others can participate to help raise additional funds. Host bake sales and fundraisers during appropriate times at the college or university. Before planning any of these activities, speak with the school's administration to get permission.
